Alternative Hair Show

Following the death of his son, Valentino, on 9th May 1983 - Tony Rizzo launched the Alternative Hair Show to raise funds for the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. At the time, leukaemia was still a poorly understood illness that affected both children and adults, often with tragic consequences. Following his personal tragedy, Tony was eager to do something in honour of Valentino to help find better treatments and a cure for leukaemia and related blood cancers.

From humble beginnings, the Alternative Hair Show has grown into one of the world’s most prestigious hairdressing events, hosting outstanding teams and inspirational hair artists from across the globe. As well as the annual Show at the Royal Albert Hall, London, groundbreaking shows have also been staged in Chicago USA, Bologna Italy, Vienna Austria, Tokyo Japan, Moscow Russia and Seoul South Korea. The Alternative Hair Shows have so far raised over £9 million for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in the UK and for leukaemia charities worldwide.
