Fellowship Hosts Men’s Hair Workshop

Share

As the men’s hairdressing market continues to grow, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing is committed to supporting men’s hairdressers and barbers in the elevation of their craft. As well as the launch of the Barber Project for 2019 – a year-long mentoring program for aspiring barbers – the Fellowship also made men’s hair the focus of their first Workshop for the year.

Hosted at Alan D Academy in Farringdon, the evening was hosted by four Fellowship men’s hair masters: Jonathan Andrew, Karoliina Saunders, Rino Riccio from Manifesto and Claudio Marini from Alan D. With ten delegates in attendance, mentors were able to work on an intimate basis with each, providing real insight and hands-on guidance. Each brought their own model to work on, creating a look under the watchful eye of the experts. The diverse line-up of models – as well as experts – led to a variety of looks being created and techniques shared, including fashion cutting, disconnection and texture, as well as classic barbering techniques like clipper work, blending and fading.

The evening was a great opportunity for members to get some great one-on-one time with the mentors. We split up all the members and really focused on sharing new techniques and perfecting skills for better men’s hairdressing. It was an honour to be up there with the other masters and great to be able to pass on some knowledge to the members. - Jonathan Andrews

As for the Fellowship’s ongoing support and growth in the men’s market, Jonathan adds:

I think now more than ever it is vital for the Fellowship to support men’s hairdressing. With the ever-growing influence of barbers and men’s hairdressers on social media, who are captivating larger and larger audiences every day, the Fellowship needs to use its influence to support this significant part of our industry.
