Kelvedon salon, Hairlounge47 defied all odds by winning UK Retail Salon of the Year 2019 at the prestigious British Hair and Beauty Awards. The Awards recognise exceptional salons that make a real difference to their clients and community.

Prominent judges included best-selling author and beauty business expert, Liz McKeon, Sophie Stapleton, and founder of boostmysalon, Carey Faulkner.

Hairlounge 47 was nominated for four awards, which included Hair Salon of the Year, Retail Salon of the Year, Manager of the Year (Caroline Lane) and Stylist of the Year (Lisa Barnard). They won all the categories they entered and were runners-up for the Stylist of the Year Award.

Wasif Khan, Director said:

All of Kelvedon have been celebrating our amazing success as we have put our village on the hair fashion map. We work so hard to be amazing in everything we do and make our clients and community happy. These awards recognise this and as a team we are overjoyed.

The Awards are broken down into three main stages, which include first round short listing focussing on the reputation of the business from clients. Second round judging includes a mystery call or visit to the salon to assess their customer care skills. Third round judging is where judges agree on a winner using pre-defined criteria.

Caroline Lane, Manageress said:

To be crowned UK Manager of the Year last year gave me extra motivation and to win the Gold Award this year makes me so proud. I am delighted for Lisa who won the Silver Award for Stylist of the Year and the whole team who are so passionate and supportive.
