Project X Styles Phase Eight Show with Kai Wan

Members of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Project X team joined Team Leader, Kai Wan, to work on the Phase Eight runway presentation.

One of the benefits of being involved in the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s projects is the opportunity to join the team leaders as they work on their personal projects outside of the scheduled mentoring days.

For members of the Project X team, this recently meant being able to join Team Leader Kai Wan as he created the hair look for the Phase Eight fashion presentation. Team members Phillippa Lee, Janene Bush and Emma Male joined Kai to create ten model looks for the show, which took place at 8 Northumberland Avenue. The model look for the show was a low ponytail with sleek sides, height and texture on the top and two stacked rope braids at the base.

I've never worked on a fashion show before and loved every minute. As well as being a great experience, I also learnt some valuable styling skills, including how to prep the hair so it held the style for longer. - Phillippa Lee

Emma Male agrees adding,

I have worked on a hair catwalk event many years ago, but I’ve never done a whole model look for my show. Learning how to work as a team to bring the looks together was brilliant, and it was also great to learn how to do the rope twist style. Keeping the scaffolding pins and grips in ‘til the last minute was another handy trick I’ll definitely be using!
