Putting the Pedal to the Metal

Share

Industry professionals really put the pedal to the metal recently, in aid of the Hair & Beauty Charity, raising an amazing £9,638.55 towards helping hair and beauty professionals in need.

The charity annual bike ride took place in Girona, Spain, which has the largest concentration of professional cyclists in the world. The trip had a cycling schedule catering for all levels of cycling expertise with expert bike guides who accompanied the fundraisers, taking the group on rides of varying abilities, with gentle routes to full-on adventures into the foothills and beyond.

The bike ride was once again superbly organised by Victor Pajak from Headquarters. A fantastic feat for all the bikers who took part, but a special shout out to our top three fundraisers Stacey Humphreys from L’Oréal Professional who raised £1,779.17, Anne Veck who raised £1,519 and Jason Miller from Charlie Miller salon who raised £1,080.

Other riders included our very own Hair & Beauty Charity co-President Philip Sharp and charity supporters, Andre Marsh and David Dalrymple (Scruffs Hairdressing), Andrew and Julie Mercer (Goldwell), Brian Thomson (Leslie Hairdressing), Jeff Goodwin (Jeff Goodwin Hair), Kate Preston, Ian Chisham, Libby Rock and Alexander Bosher (Kate Preston Salons), Toby Dicker (The Chapel), Mariya Tsvetkova (Headquarters), and Stuart Chapman (L’Oréal Professional).

Hair & Beauty Charity Co-President, Philip Sharp says about this year’s charity bike ride:

Thank you so much to all the people who joined us this year and everyone who supported them in raising such a terrific amount of money for our industry charity. Victor was just amazing and pulling it together and being such a fantastic host.

This year was the hardest of my three trips, with the pinnacle being the 13.8km climb of Rocacorba, a notoriously steep mountain in the region. Under normal circumstances I would never achieve such a feat, however you are equipped with fantastic bikes worth thousands of pounds and the team spirit gives you that extra determination to achieve the impossible!

Over the three and a half days actual cycling we rode over 300km, during that time the scenery was breath taking and the laughs we had along the way made those kilometres fly by.

“If I were to recommend anybody to do any fundraising for the charity, I can hand on heart say that the charity bike ride is one of our most special events; you will meet amazing people, stay in fabulous accommodation and see the world all whilst getting fit along the way. If anybody is reading this thinking should I sign up, I would say go for it, you only live once, and this fantastic event will give you wonderful memories to treasure for a lifetime.
