Glass Skin

Share

Pretty much all new beauty and make-up trends spawn on social media, so it’s no surprise to see the latest trending hashtag, #GlassSkin.

Yes you read that right, Glass Skin is the latest Korean beauty technique to make its way West. Glass skin is the technique of giving your complexion a translucent glow. This look is achieved in Korea by women carrying out extreme skincare routines – think anything between five and ten products! But, for all you minimalists out there who just can’t - let’s be honest here – be bothered with such a crazy routine for a trend, there are other quicker ways to get the look.

Lazy Skincare Way

To achieve a dewy glow quickly, try using Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream. This cream plumps and hydrates the skin for a supple, dewy effect. Also, use a Vitamin C serum to help tighten and brighten the skin.

Make-up Technique

To get a dewy glow with make-up, use a foundation that has an emollient finish such as Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Skin Illuminating Foundation – think flawless, airbrushed skin with an enviable luminescent glow. When opting for highlighters, go for ones that have a translucent sheen such as Chanel’s Baume Essentiel in Transparent.

To get the glass skin effect with make-up, it’s all about placement. Use it on the high points of your face – the top of the cheekbones, right below the brows on the highest point of the brow bone, the centre of the top of the eyelid and the bridge of the nose. Then blend, and blend some more so all visible edges are removed!

Glow from Within

Although make-up and skincare can give great glass skin effects, nothing gives skin a healthy glow than taking care of it from within. That dewy look comes from skin that is hydrated, so drinking plenty of water is key to great looking skin. Sleeping better, eating better and eliminating bad habits like smoking all make for a brighter and healthier complexion.
